Dr Contractor completed her degree of MD ( Doctor of Medicine) in 2003. Her post degree experience undertaken in several multidisciplinary hospitals and couple of different countries. Has collected her medical registration eligibility in Russia, UK, India and now Australia. Since 2009, settled on coast, worked with Queensland Health and general practices. She holds title of associate lecturer in UQ university. She is well known among her patients for her integrative and multidisciplinary approached care. Her interests are in skin cancer screening and minor surgical procedures, women’s health, PAP, implanon, Mirena, men’s health, children’s health, immunisation, indigenous health, general medicine, elderly care, mental health care. Coordinates team care arrangements for chronic disease management, pain management, health assessments and musculoskeletal disease treatment. New patients and families are welcomed.
Dr Rodney Matisonn (MBChB South Africa) has recently joined our team at Cooroy Family Practice. Dr Rodney has fifty years of experience as a GP, as he obtained his Fellow of he College of Physicians in 1971 in South Africa. He then became principal Cardiologist at Wentworth Hospital and also senior lecturer in Cardiology at the then Univesity of Natal Medical School (1974-1978). In the interim he was also an associate Professor of Cardiology at UCLA (1975).
Entering private practice in 1978 he soon became recognised as an astute and highly competent Cardiologist and developed a huge practice which bore testimony to his expertise. Despite his busy practice he continued to contribute to his medical colleagues by lecturing in Cardiology in the Department if Medicine of the University of Natal from 1978 to 1998.
In recognition of his abilities was such that he became President of the Cardiac Practitioner Society of South Africa and was elected as a local branch council manager (Natal Coastal) and a member of the Private Practice Committee of the Medical Association of South Africa. He was further recognised for his efforts by being awarded the John Chard Medal for his contribution to South African Medical services. Dr Bob McCrossin is a Paediatrician and specialises in working with children that have challenging behaviours.
He also works closely with the practice’s two psychologists, ensuring that there is a comprehensive care plan for the patients.
Dr Bob McCrossin has more than forty years of experience as a Paediatrician in different settings across Australia and new Zealand. He also has several publication in refereed journals.
In the last year Dr Bob McCrossin joined Cooroy Family Practice to take care of our young patients.

Dr Pilita Valencia has over 20 years of experience as a Medical Practitioner, having obtained her degree (Doctor of Medicine) in 1998.
She has worked in different hospitals and GP clinics all over Australia since 2008 and enjoys all facets of General Practice. Her special interest is in chronic disease management, aged care, travel health and vaccinations, sexual health, women’s and men’s health.
Dr.Valencia is well-known among her patients for her friendly personality, caring attitude and holistic approach.
She speaks fluently in both English and Filipino. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, enjoying the world’s beautiful flora and fauna, and having relaxing long walks with her husband and two fur babies.
Dr Phillip Barker obtained his MBBS at the University of Wollongong NSW and has experience working in hospitals and General Practice.
He is a Rural Generalist Trainee with general surgical and gastroenterology interests and a background in medical imaging.
Outside of working hours Dr Barker enjoys horses, family activities, kite surfing and playing the guitar.
